Triggered Campaigns
Campaign Triggers
Campaign Triggers allow you to send personalised campaigns based on real-world interaction with Jomablue. These contextually relevant campaigns often lead to significantly higher engagement from recipients.
Key Features:
- Triggers replace the traditional "Schedule send time"
- Triggered Campaigns can run indefinitely or within a specified start and end time
- Rules can be applied to trigger campaigns (e.g., target specific categories).
Available Triggers
Event Check-In: This trigger activates when a person has their badge printed using either the Jomablue Smart Badge or Jomablue CX (badge or badgeless mode).
Badgeless Check-in with Jomablue CX: This trigger sends an Arrival Notification when a person performs a badgeless check-in using Jomablue CX.
Product Registered: This trigger activates when a person completes the registration of a Product purchased from an Online Store or registered through an Online Free Registration Site.
Send Triggered Campaigns via Block Automation: Block Automations let you set up automatic actions when Community users interact with Blocks within the Community. For additional information, see the article: Block Automations. You can send intelligent, targeted email or SMS campaigns based on a Community User’s interaction with the Block by setting up the automation in that Block.
Setup a Triggered Campaign
Prerequisites:
To set up a Triggered Campaign in Jomablue, you'll need the following:
- An appropriate Event General Template (either Email or SMS)
- All your People data must be imported into Jomablue (if you are importing from an external registration system)
Notes:
- Generally, you should conduct the scheduling of your Campaigns when all event details and data are finalised.
- To ensure the accuracy of your Campaigns, we recommend scheduling them with 2 people (e.g., 1 person scheduling the Campaign and 1 person watching and verifying everything is correct)
Configure the Triggered Campaign
To schedule a Triggered Campaign in Jomablue, go to Event Configuration > Campaigns. Click the button at the top right labelled Campaign Builder to begin creating your Campaign.
Follow the instructions in the article Managing Campaigns under the section Schedule a Campaign.
When you have completed Steps 1 - 6, follow these steps to apply the trigger. Schedule
Schedule
This step in setting up a Triggered Campaign is to select the Trigger itself. Click on Send when triggered and then use the drop-down menu to choose a Trigger.
By default, a Trigger remains active from the time that you set it until it is cancelled. However, if you select Between specific dates, you can set a start and end date-time during which the Trigger will be active.
Once you have selected a Trigger, click Next to proceed.
Review and Confirm
Finally, you need to Review and Confirm that your Campaign has been configured correctly. This overview will display all the settings for your Campaign. Once you have reviewed and confirmed that all details are correct, and you are confident that the Campaign is ready, click Set Trigger. This action will finalise the Triggered Campaign.
Campaigns based on Items allocated to a Person
Triggered Campaigns have the option to send a Campaign to registrants who have purchased a specific Item from an Online Registration Site, either upon completion of their Registration or upon checking in to the Event. Use cases for filtering Campaigns based on Items purchased include:
- Sending tailored communications to attendees of a Gala Dinner or After Party
- Sending tailored communications to People attending a Workshop
- Reminding Attendees to collect their swag
Follow the steps in the Configure your Triggered Campaign section above and select Item Allocation at Step 6 Set Sending Rules.

Campaigns based on a Block Automation
An email or SMS Campaign can be triggered upon the completion of a specified interaction in the Community. For example, a Campaign can be triggered when a “video_played” interaction is linked to a campaign-triggered action.
Block Automations allow you to configure automatic actions when Community users interact with
Blocks in Community. One of these actions is to send a Triggered Campaign.
Configure the Triggered Campaign
- When configuring Block Automations, select the interaction to link with the Fire Custom Campaign Trigger action. In the example below, the interaction ‘Video Played’ is linked to the ‘Fire Custom Campaign Trigger’.
- Next, create the Trigger Key that will be activated when the interaction occurs. This key should only contain alphanumeric characters and may include hyphens or underscores. In this case, we have created the Trigger Key ‘send-welcome-email.’
- Link Trigger Key to an Action by setting up a Campaign in the Campaign tab. You can create a Campaign by navigating to the Campaign tab and clicking on the Campaign Builder.
- To create a Campaign, please see the article: Managing Campaigns for instructions on building a Campaign through the Campaign Builder. When scheduling the trigger for the Campaign, select the ‘Send When Triggered’ option and choose the ‘Trigger Key’ you created earlier. In this case, it’s ‘send-welcome-email’.
Now whenever a user clicks ‘play’ on a Video, it will trigger a campaign to send a ‘welcome email’ to that user.
