Coupons are a highly configurable feature of Online Paid Registration that allows you to create Discounts for Products and/or Items in your Online Stores, redeemable via Coupon Codes.

Definitions

Coupon

A Coupon enables the holder to receive one or more Products or Items at a discounted rate

Name

This is the name of the Coupon that is displayed online, allowing you to identify one from the others. The maximum length is 100 characters.

Description

A brief description of what the Coupon offers, such as “50% off on every product.” The maximum length is 250 characters.

Usage Limit

Indicates how many times the Coupon can be used per code

Start Time / End Time

Coupons can only be redeemed within this time frame

Limit to one Product Discount per Order

If offering multiple Products at a discounted rate, setting this option to "Yes" will restrict the Coupon holder to selecting only one of the discounted Products or Items at checkout.

Note that a Coupon holder could check out multiple times to circumvent this restriction, provided the Usage Limit allows.

Sites

Specifies which Sites the Coupon can be redeemed on

Product/Item Discounts

Select which Products and Items you want to apply discounts to. You can change or select any available discount for the Product by clicking on the arrow button, as shown below:

When selecting a Discount from the existing list, you will see a searchable list displaying a maximum of 10 Discounts at any given time.

Discounts

Discounts can be applied as a percentage (%) or as a fixed amount ($).

Once a discount is created and saved, it cannot be edited. To make modifications, you will need to create a new discount.

Codes

Codes are provided to People to redeem the coupon, for example, “earlybird”

Code Usage

Indicates how many times the code has been used to redeem the coupon

Minimum Quantity

This is the minimum number of eligible Products that must be ordered to apply the discount. For example, if a discount provides $50 off a Product and the minimum quantity is set to 3, the user must add 3 eligible Products to their cart to apply the Discount.

Important: If “Limited to one Product Discount per Order” is enabled, the Discount applies to only one Product. If disabled, the discount applies to all Products up to the maximum quantity set.

Maximum Quantity

This is the maximum number of Products that a discount can be applied to.

For example, if a discount offers $50 off a product, with a minimum quantity of 1 and a maximum quantity of 3, then the user would receive $50 off the first 3 products they order. Additional products added to the cart would not receive the discount.

Note:

  • The Maximum Quantity must be equal to or greater than the Minimum Quantity.
  • In the above example, a customer could buy 3 products, then start a new order and use the discount again for another 3 products, if the coupon’s Usage Limit permits.

Example Coupon Configuration

In the above example, we have a product called “Delegate Registration”, for which we want to create a "Buy one, get one-half price" coupon. The fields are explained below:

  • Select Product: Choose the Product to which you want to apply a discount
  • Name: Enter the name of the discount
  • Type: Specify the type of discount. In this case, we want to apply a 50% discount to the second product ordered, so we select "percent off."
  • Value: Set the value of the discount. Since we selected "percent off," a value of 50 means we are creating a 50% discount.
  • Minimum qty: Define the minimum number of products required to enable the discount. For a "buy one, get one half price" coupon, this should be set to 2.
  • Maximum qty: Determine the maximum number of products that a discount can be applied to. Here, we have set the maximum quantity to 2.
  • Limit to one product discount per order: This option, partially greyed out in the example, has been set to "Yes." This setting is crucial–if it were set to "No, the 50% discount would be applied to both products when a second product is added.

To create a Coupon for 25% off a specific Product, you must create the following:

  • The Product that you wish to discount

  2. Click on the New Coupon button at the top right of the page
  3. Fill out the fields in the New Coupon form.
  4. Provide a meaningful Name and Description for the Coupon
  5. Set the Active radio selector to Yes
  6. Change the Limit to one product discount per order field to No
  7. Specify the Usage Limit as desired
  8. Set the Start Time and End Time to the appropriate date and times

  10. A panel will appear on the right upon clicking Save, click on the small plus (+) icon next to Paid Online Sites
  11. Click Add to Store next to the name of the Store where you want to make the Coupon available

At this point, you'll have a screen that looks like the example provided below. The next step is to create a Discount.

Create a Discount

  1. Click on the small blue plus (+) next to Product/Item Discounts
  2. Use the Select Product drop-down menu to choose the product you want to apply the discount to
  3. Click on the "or add a new discount" link next to the Select discount heading, and fill out the fields that appear:
    • Name: Choose a meaningful name for the Discount
    • Type: Set this to percent off
    • Value: Set this to 25
    • Minimum qty: Set this to 1
    • Maximum qty: Set this to a high number to indicate the maximum number of Products this discount can be used with

      4. Your Discount configuration should resemble the image below. After configuring, click Add Discount

      5. Click Add to Coupon

      6. Create a Code that can be used to redeem this Coupon

Create a Coupon Code

The final step in creating a Coupon is to generate one or more codes that can be used to apply the Coupon. To create a Coupon Code:

  1. Click on the small blue plus (+) next to Codes
  2. Enter your desired Codes into the dialog box, then click Add to Coupon.

Note: Coupon codes can only include letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores. You can paste multiple codes can be pasted into the Codes field, separating them with a new line.

Delete a Coupon Code

You can delete Coupon codes that have been entered incorrectly or are unused to keep your coupon list tidy.

Note: If a coupon code has been shared and then deleted, the end user will not be able to use that coupon code.

To delete a code:

  1. Go to Registration > Coupons in the left navigation
  2. Select the relevant Coupon
  3. Select the minus sign “-” under Code to delete the relevant code(s)
Note: The option will be displayed in red if the coupon has already been used, as it cannot be deleted.

Put it all together

Once you've completed the above steps, your Coupon view should look like this:

Notes:

  • When using the Type “Fixed Amount”, the value entered in Jomablue excludes tax. If tax has been set up, it will be applied at check-out.
  • The Coupon Code “25OFF” above is provided as an example to illustrate the process. You may want to create codes that are more difficult for unauthorised users to guess.

Automatically apply a Coupon to an Order by passing it in a URL

In some cases, you might want to send out communications that contain a special deal or offer an early bird rate. Typically, you would provide a coupon code in an email and ask users to enter it.

With Jomablue, you can include the Coupon as part of the URL, creating a one-click solution where users see the discount applied immediately.

Automatically Apply Coupons

After creating a Coupon, add it to the Site URL, as a URL parameter in the following format:

"?coupon=myCouponCode"

'myCouponCode' is the code you created for the Coupon

Example:

Let's say the Site URL is:

https://acme.jomablue.com/reg/store/delegate

To add the Coupon, append the following to the end of the URL:

?coupon=myCouponCode

The complete URL you can share publicly would then be:

https://acme.jomablue.com/reg/store/delegate?coupon=myCouponCode

Just remember to replace 'myCouponCode' with your actual coupon code.

Use Cases

Automatically applied coupons can be used in various scenarios, including:

Providing each of your sales representatives with a unique link to the site that includes their own coupon code, allowing you to track each rep's performance

Including a special coupon in the URL for VIPs, so they don't need to enter a coupon code manually
